The new Premier League season starts on 17 August (Saturday). The 2013–14 will be the 22nd season of the Premier League, since its establishment in 1992. This will be the first season of the Premier League in which goal line technology will be used. This season is believed to be the most interesting of all. It's going to be weird to see Manchester United without their legend, the great Sir Alex Ferguson on the bench. This will be the first time Manchester United will have other manager in the Premier League since its establishment.

Cardiff City, Hull City and Crystal Palace have earned promotion to the Premier League after a great season in the Championship last year. They will be replacing  Queens Park RangersReading and Wigan Athletic who were all relegated to the Championship.

The Premier League this season starts with these matches, all played on Saturday, 17 August:

       13:45     Liverpool v Stoke

       16:00     Arsenal v Aston Villa

       16:00     Norwich v Everton

       16:00     Sunderland v Fulham

       16:00     West Brom v Southampton

       16:00     West Ham v Cardiff

       18:30     Swansea v Man Utd

The new season is less than a month away so the clubs are on pre-season tours all over the world. For example, the champions Manchester United were in Thailand, then Australia, now they are in Japan. They are making sure that the players are fit and ready for the new season.

Their rivals, Chelsea were in Thailand too, next are Malaysia and Indonesia. Arsenal are also on tour around Asia. All the big teams are getting ready for the new season. Fitness levels should be high, new strategies are tried. The coaches are experimenting.
Also the teams are strengthening their squads, signing up players. Manchester city is spending big, they have already signed Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo, both from Sevilla, and Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina. Also, they have a new coach, in the name of Manuel Pellegrini.
Chelsea bought Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer from Fulham. Arsenal got Yaya Sanogo from the french Auxerre. Only Manchester United have not made an impact in the transfer market this season. Except their new manager David Moyes, their only signing is Wilfried Zaha, but he was signed back in January. They were hoping to sign Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona, but Bayern Munich and Guardiola signed him. Now they are trying to get Cesc Fabregas, also from Barca, but it seems like he's not gonna leave Barca this summer, and they are also trying to keep Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford, with Chelsea and their new manager Mourinho trying to sign the United player.
All this makes us wonder will United be able to defend the title. I mean with this squad, it's gonna be hard, because the rest of the teams, I mean the bigger teams, with hopes of winning the Premier League are heavily buying. But, you never know when it comes to Manchester United. That's why they are the best team in England.

However, the Premier League is becoming a hard place to win trophies, because teams like Tottenham Spurs, Everton, Liverpool are just behind the top teams, if not more. I mean Spurs had a great season, they are a tough team to play against, and it won't be easy for any of the teams to play againts them. Also, the new teams, the promoted ones from the Championship, Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Hull City are not there to underestimate. They have earned their place in the top division and they will fight hard to keep it.

I'm almost sure this is going to be one of the best Premiership seasons ever. The teams are stronger than ever, even the low-budget teams are signing players up, and they will fight for the places that lead to Europe next season. The title race will be very very tough, and I think that the team which will win the Premier League 2013-14 is gonna have to surpass the record of 95 points in a season, held by Chelsea FC.
