Chelsea are set to offer £60 million for the England forward and Jose Mourinho is interested enough to match his £240,000-a-week wages on a five year deal. But his fellow mate Rio Ferdinand says Wayne Rooney would be mad to leave Manchester United - and miss out on winning more trophies.

I personally share the same opinion with Rio and I think that Wayne is established at United as a big sportsman and with his desire to play to win matches, and obviously to win trophies he surely would be mad if he decides to leave United. In recent matches Fergie was using him as an attacking midfielder, something like Shinji Kagawa, and it looks like Moyes will stick to that same role for Wayne. He’ll play just behind the main striker Robin Van Persie, who had a great first season with United scoring 26 goals in 38 appearances and playing a vital role in securing the Premier League title, the last title for Fergie indeed, who retired at the end of last season.

The latest rumors around the football world, the media and the football fans are that Chelsea are trying to sign Wayne Rooney. To be more specific, there are rumors saying Chelsea FC has offered £20m, but that is just the media. We know how it works.
Others are saying that the offer is money + player, specifically either
Juan Mata or David Luiz. The rumors spreading fast, and one more reason for that is the return
of Wayne Rooney from the tour. Official statement was that he is injured and that he'll be out for
3-4 weeks, but Wayne said that it's probably just a knock and he'll be ok in a few days.
Who can we trust I don't know, but this is getting more and more interesting. And in my opinion,
it will be odd to see Rooney in a blue shirt.

The same Rooney who has scored 141 goals in 278 appearances for Manchester United and

who has been a leader of the team for the last couple of years.
His prime at United was after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, because then United needed
somebody to step up to the challenge and that was Wayne Rooney. That was the season
2009 - 2010 when Wayne scored 32 goals in 42 appearances. His goalscoring was fantastic
that season. He was the main striker and all the expectations were pointed towards him.
And he produced. And he did it in style.

But, in the last couple of seasons Fergie had a new role for Wayne, playing just behind the main

striker. A role in which Roo settled nicely. He wasn't scoring that much, but he was helping the
team and he was making more and more assists. I can't help it, i must mention his last assist
when he magically found Van Persie with a wonderful long ball, and Robin catching it on the volley
and scoring past the keeper against Villa.
