Thiago Alcantara joins Bayern Munich instead of Manchester United

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich over the transfer of the midfielder Thiago Alcantara to the Bundesliga club. A short statement from Barcelona said that a fee of €25m had been agreed for the 22-year-old Spaniard. 

"This agreement also includes holding a friendly match between the two teams, which will be played in the next four years."- added in the club statement

Thiago was close to signing with Manchester United, when his father Mazinho and his agent were in Manchester to meet with United's representatives. Leaked information are that United were offering the youngster a four year deal with a salary of £140,000 per week.
Thiago’s father, Mazinho said:

“Thiago was very close to signing with Manchester United, they had talks. But they couldn’t find an agreement.” 

United needed his signature, and Moyes was sure that he would like to see Thiago in Manchester United, especially now when Wayne Rooney saga continues, and he's maybe on his way to Chelsea or Arsenal.

But, few weeks later Thiago signed with Bayern Munich. He even paid some of the transfer payments just to complete the deal with the European Champions. The deal also included an agreement that the two clubs will play a friendly match at some point in the next four years.

Now, football experts say that Thiago will regret his decision to snub Manchester United for Bayern Munich. They say that he's made a career mistake rejecting United in favor of Bayern. As we know he was very close to signing with United, but when his ex-coach Pep Guardiola made a move, he decided that he would want to reunite with him. Thiago's goal is to become a starter in the team, because he obviously wants to play for Spain in the World Cup 2014, and in Barca that was very very difficult. You have Xavi Hernandes, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets, and it was gonna be hard for him to take place in the starting eleven with that competition. So he needed to go. But, as the experts say, maybe he did the wrong thing signing with Bayern, because as the things currently stand the Bundesliga team arguably has the highest midfield combination, with the likes of Bastin Schweinsteiger, Arjen Robben, Frank Ribery, Javi Martinez, Mario Gotze, Luiz Gustavo, Toni Kroos, and Xherdan Shaqiri all fighting for a place in the team, meaning he'll have much more competition. And in my opinion he'll find it harder to get playing time in Bayern than in Barca.

Some say that the best career move for Thiago would have been to join the Premier League side who were in the need of a player with his qualities. In United, he would have undoubtedly been a regular starter as David Moyes’ team lack incredibly in creative strength in the middle of the pitch with only Michael Carrick as a regular midfielder after the retirement of Paul Scholes. 
But lets not forget that Thiago is young and very talented, in fact he just won the best player award in Under-21 World Cup competition, so he might prove us wrong, but only time will tell.
